Border agents reported a shocking 210,000 illegal alien apprehensions at the Southwest U.S. border in September, up by roughly 30,000 from the 181,000 they caught in August and marking what’s shaping up to be an endless and ever-increasing surge at a border the Biden administration has decided to ignore come hell or high river water.

If the trend keeps up, monthly border apprehensions will soon outpace the all-time record of 224,000 reported in May of 2022, also under the Biden Administration.

September’s stunning report brings the total number of illegals caught in FY2023 - which ended Sept. 30 - to more than 2.4 million, setting a new annual record and marking only the second time in recorded history that illegal alien apprehensions have topped 2 million in a given fiscal year. Just under 2.4 million were caught in FY2022, setting a record high and blowing away apprehension totals under the previous Trump administration.

Critics of Biden’s open-border policies had warned that ending the Trump-era Title 42 program, which mandated migrants remain in Mexico until their immigration hearings, would create an unprecedented surge at the border. The administration tried to mitigate this inevitable consequence by creating a smartphone app that allowed asylum-seekers to “check in” and queue up virtually before coming across the border, where they then weren’t counted as illegal alien apprehensions despite crossing into the country illegally.

The app proved glitchy and cumbersome, however, and illegal aliens once again resorted to coming in the old-fashioned way: crossing the river, saying the word “asylum,” and happily taking their tax-funded bus ticket to wherever.

To try and alleviate the pressure on blue cities struggling under the weight of unmanageable hordes of unemployed, homeless illegals, the Biden administration has granted de facto amnesty to roughly half a million Venezuelans through the Temporary Protected Status, a program meant to shield foreigners in the country illegally from being sent back to countries experiencing war or natural disasters. Under that abused (and extendable) system, Biden has green-lit illegal aliens from Venezuela who crossed the border on or before July 31 the right to work, as well as access to other tax-funded resources, while they await their immigration hearing.

Given the welcome mat being rolled out for those who ignore our laws and break the rules to enter unlawfully, it’s unlikely the steady stream will stop anytime soon.
