Here’s something you don’t see every day: a Black Lives Matter leader who says he’s throwing his support behind…Donald Trump?

Yet that’s exactly what Mark Fisher, co-founder and former senior director of a Black Lives Matter Rhode Island chapter, told talk show host Kim Iversen earlier this month. When asked point-blank why he’s landed on Trump as his guy, Fisher bluntly responded, “Because everybody else sucks.”

“I like Trump personally. I think right now who we have sitting in the Oval Office is a deep disappointment. I deeply have disdain for him and I really dislike the vice president [Kamala Harris] as well," Fisher elaborated.

And according to Fisher, he’s not the only Black man who feels that way.

“I feel like a lot of Black people are starting to pivot off that Democratic plantation. For so long, we’ve been slaves to that party,” he went on. “Actually, we’ve been mental slaves afraid to get off of that plantation because we’ve been used and abused for so long by that party.”

“Their policies are basically racist policies,” Fisher said. “I believe it’s a racist party that strikes at the heart of the Black family and the nuclear family in general. I believe Donald Trump is the opposite. He’s going to tell you how it is, give it to you straight. He’s not going to be a hypocrite and stab you in the back like the Democratic Party loves to do.”

Following that interview, Fisher joined Fox & Friends to reiterate why a top BLM leader would endorse Trump.

"It's the duplicity of the Democrats, the hypocrisy," Fisher told Lawrence Jones Tuesday. "We're not stupid. The brothers are not stupid. We understand when someone's for us and when someone is not, and it's obvious that the Democratic Party is not for us...Trump has done more for the Black community than I can any president I can think of in my lifetime."

Of course, just like with other narrative-busting groups like ‘Blacks For Trump,” don’t expect the leftist media to give airtime to guys like Fisher for breaking rank and refusing to conform with Democrats’ prescribed political narrative. As Media Research Center President Brent Bozell pointed out, “The leftist media aren’t going to tell you about this guy.”

Likely not - but in November of 2024, the polls just might.
