Police have revealed that the now-deceased gunman who opened fire inside a manufacturing company in Aurora, Illinois, Friday, killing at leave five people, was a 15-year employee of the company facing termination.

Gary Martin, 45, was killed in a shootout with police Friday. Five officers were shot and a sixth suffered a knee injury. All are reportedly in stable condition.

Authorities were unable to offer a motive for the shooting at Henry Pratt Manufacturing Co. earlier Friday. Now they believe he knew he was going to be fired the day of his rampage.

CBS News reports,

The shooter was a 15-year employee of the Henry Platt Co. and police believe he was being terminated Friday, Aurora police chief Kristen Ziman said at a press conference late Friday.

Police said it's unclear if Martin brought his gun to work or went home to retrieve it. All of the people killed were employees of the company, police said.

As to the gun, ABC 13 Eyewitness News reports that Martin was a convicted felon, charged in 1995 for aggravated assault in Mississippi, making any gun he had illegal -- unless his conviction was overturned or dismissed which it appears it was not.

Even so but not surprisingly, before the victims’ names were even revealed, liberals and news outlets such as CNN were quick to compare this mass shooting to previous ones in an effort to suggest the issues lies in gun control.
