MRC President Brent Bozell today applauded CNN’s Jake Tapper for publicly taking on the State Department over the issue of lies about the editing of video from a public event:

“At the risk of ruining Jake Tapper’s career, I have to commend him for looking into the camera and publicly demanding accountability from the State Department during a segment that went over four minutes on his show.

“He identified four separate lies told by the State Department and, when he got to the end, he spoke for me and all Americans: ‘We have a right to know who lied to us, and why.’

"The fact this is such a rare occurrence in the media today is why their public approval ratings are so low.  Jake Tapper told the truth, he is to be commended and the rest of the media should follow his lead.”

As MRC’s Newsbusters explains, Tapper used his segment on CNN to expose a State Dept. scandal the liberal media have refused to report:

During his “Buried Lead” segment on Thursday’s The Lead, CNN host Jake Tapper presented an incredibly thorough takedown of the State Department for fibbing about not only aspects of the Iran nuclear deal but also their lies concerning intentional editing of a press briefing video dating back to 2013 concerning the deal.

In a story that the major broadcast networks have done their best to ignore, Tapper returned from break to introduce the aforementioned segment dedicated to “stories we don’t think are getting enough attention and in this case, of course, it’s literally someone at the State Department tried to bury something, hiding it from you.”
