Bomb-Sniffing Dogs Triggered By a Closed Crate Containing Hillary's Portrait

It’s official. Even trained dogs don’t like failed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

An art exhibit in Miami, Fla. had a bit of a scare Saturday morning when Miami police security dogs began barking at an unopened crate. The Art Miami event was closed for a few hours while authorities checked out the mysterious container.

According to the Miami Herald:

But when they opened up the offending crate, officers found something else instead: a punky portrait of Hillary Clinton in a studded jacket and shaggy pink haircut, in a neon picture frame to match.

Fair director Nick Korniloff said that the two dogs reacted to the crate during a pre-show check shortly after 8 a.m., prompting organizers to clear the site. Both the Art Miami tent and a tent for Context, connected by a tunnel, were closed off. The package was then searched and the painting of the former Democratic presidential candidate was found inside.

The title of the piece was done by Orlando artist Scott Scheidly and is called “Punk Hillary,” which is Hillary-ous. Hillary Clinton is about as punk rock as Donald Trump is death metal. While Clinton is portrayed as some kind of anti-establishment hero — which she’s not — Scheidly painted another portrait as a, sort-of, companion piece. The second painting is dubbed “Trump Pimp.” According to the Herald, the Trump portrait had already been taken out of the box before the security check.

Here are the two “portraits” (Screenshots: Facebook/Scott Scheidly):

Is comedy a new genre in the art purchasing world? I’m not sure, but both of these almost made me spit out my coffee. They look like something out of Mad magazine. Where’s Alfred?

Wanna hear something even more hilarious? Each painting’s asking price is listed at $4,000! Scheidly has apparently painted “roughly 50” portraits of politicians and other notable figures.

The Miami Herald spoke with gallery owner Ken Hashimoto about the ordeal and contemplated what is was about the painting that set the dogs off.

“They have no idea,” Hashimoto said. “My thought is a Republican bomb dog.”

There might be some truth to that statement considering Republican’s — particularly conservatives — can sniff out B.S.
