The yearly total for illegal alien apprehensions at the Southwest U.S. border has officially surpassed 2 million for the first time in recorded history, as Biden’s open-border policies continue to drive overwhelming numbers of migrants into the United States in violation of U.S. law.

According to monthly data just updated by Customs and Border Protection, border agents caught another 203,597 illegal aliens coming into the country unlawfully in August, bringing the total number of apprehensions so far in FY2022 to 2,150,639.

With one month still left to go.

By comparison, CBP nabbed just over 1.73 million in all of FY2021 and only about 458,000 in all of FY2020.

Of those caught this year, about 1.5 million – or about 70% - were single adults, dispelling the common leftist narrative that the vast majority of border crossers are families with young kids.

In fact, about 506,000 (just under 24%) were members of family units, which includes adult parents and guardians. Only 140,000, or roughly 6.5%, were unaccompanied children (most of those teens), while 2,782 (0.13%) were listed as “accompanied minors.”

The historic border crossings come as some Republican governors, including Florida’s Ron DeSantis, Texas’ Greg Abbott, and Arizona’s Doug Ducey, have begun bussing or flying a small fraction of the influx into blue “sanctuary cities” like New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., infuriating local officials who’re now complaining about strained resources and a housing crisis.
