Former Vice President Joe Biden in a video on Wednesday vowed to “be more mindful and respectful of people’s personal space” amid mounting allegations of inappropriate behavior.

He tweeted the video with the caption, “Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I’ve heard what these women are saying. Politics to me has always been about making connections, but I will be more mindful about respecting personal space in the future. That’s my responsibility and I will meet it."

Elaborating in the video, Biden said that, “Social norms have begun to change; they’ve shifted, and the boundaries of protecting personal space have been reset — and I get it. I get it. I hear what they’re saying; I understand it, and I’ll be much more mindful, that’s my responsibility ... my responsibility, and I’ll meet it.”

He went on, “I’ll always believe that governing, quite frankly, life for that matter, is about connecting. That won’t change, but I will be more mindful and respectful of people’s personal space, and that’s a good thing — that’s a good thing. I worked my whole life to empower women; I’ve worked my whole life to prevent abuse, so the idea that I can’t adjust to the fact that personal space is more important than it’s ever been is just unthinkable. I will. I will.”

While Biden said that he "will be more mindful and respectful" and that it is his "responsibility" to do so, he stopped short of offering an apology.

He and his 2020 campaign team have made it clear that they will be moving forward despite the allegations which have now risen to seven total.

After his video, three more women came forward with similar claims, alleging the former vice president made them feel uncomfortable. All three women agreed that his video response wasn’t enough.
