Biden Tells ICE to Stop Arresting Pregnant Illegal Aliens

President Joe Biden, an ardent supporter of women's "right" to abortion, has reportedly directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to largely stop detaining illegal alien women if they are pregnant, postpartum or nursing.

The move comes after the Trump administration, and the Obama-Biden administration before him, came under fire for how some pregnant migrant women were reportedly treated in immigration detention centers, both at the border and after being arrested within the country for immigration violations.

The Hill reports a July 1 ICE memo sent by acting Director Tae Johnson reads that as of now, “Generally ICE should not detain, arrest or take into custody for an administrative violation of the immigration laws individuals known to be pregnant, postpartum or nursing unless release is prohibited by law or exceptional circumstances exist.”

The Hill adds that the memo defines “postpartum” as any woman who has given birth in the past year.

On top of potentially creating yet another magnet for illegal immigration by carving out special exemptions for expecting mothers, this is an interesting move for an administration that has spent the past six months pushing far-left progressive abortion policies, including Biden’s pledge to work with congressional Democrats to repeal the Hyde amendment that bars federal tax dollars from being used to fund elective abortions. While the new ICE policy signals a compassionate approach to dealing with vulnerable pregnant women or those nursing newborns, one can only wonder why the administration would consider it a special circumstance – or even care at all – that a woman is pregnant.

After all, it’s not like she’s carrying a unique human being that has any value…
