Joe Biden showcased his ignorance on Monday. Rambling against “high-caliber weapons” like the 9mm pistol, and repeating the false claim that the Second Amendment prohibited ownership of cannons.
“A 9 mm bullet blows the lung out of the body," Biden claimed. "So the idea of these high-caliber weapons — there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of self-protection, hunting."
Statistically, 9 mm handguns are one of the most popular pistols for self-defense.
Things got dumber from there.
“Remember, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, was never absolute,” Biden said. “You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” Biden told reporters on the White House lawn.

Except that you could – and people did - purchase cannons.
