An Armenian- American approached Vice President Joe Biden and asked what message from the Obama administration "we should be giving to our community", Biden responded: "Tell them that it was the Armenian President that called me and said "Look, do not force this issue now while we are in negotiations. We passed. That's passed right now, so anyway, reality has a way of intruding." However, a spokesman for Armenian President Serzh Sarkasian has denied the president asked Biden not to "force" the issue of Armenian genocide while negotiations of the normalization of Turkish- American relations were in progress. Biden's comments have since caused an uproar in Armenia.
