According to a statement released on Tuesday by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan is now dependent “on continued coordination with the Taliban.”

So we’re relying on totally trustworthy violent extremists to determine when we can leave Afghanistan? Got it.

The statement in question reads as follows:

During a meeting this morning with the G7 leaders, the President conveyed that our mission in Kabul will end based on the achievement of our objectives. He confirmed we are currently on pace to finish by August 31st and provided an update on progress in evacuating Americans who want to come home, third-country nationals, and Afghans who were our allies during the war.

He also made clear that with each day of operations on the ground, we have added risk to our troops with increasing threats from ISIS-K, and that completion of the mission by August 31st depends on continued coordination with the Taliban, including continued access for evacuees to the airport. In addition, the President has asked the Pentagon and the State Department for contingency plans to adjust the timeline should that become necessary.

Because of the incompetence of this regime, ISIS is apparently a threat again. This is what happens when you create a vacuum in a region that has no interest in the American way of life.

As Fox News reported, Psaki confirmed during Tuesday’s press briefing that withdrawal efforts will be stopped before the now-tentative August 31 deadline in order to allow U.S. troops to evacuate.

“That would be correct, yes, that there would need to be time to wind down the presence,” Psaki said in response to a question on the matter.

Where does that leave either Americans or Afghans that aided the U.S. over the years who are trying to evacuate?

While those people are left to twist in the wind, the Biden regime seems to have their heads in the sand.
