The never-ending conveyor belt of U.S. military equipment and taxpayer money being sent to Ukraine had some new items added to it, ready to be shipped to Zelensky-land.
As soon as the word “tanks” could leave the lips of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during his visit to Ukraine in the last week, President Joe Biden made the Wednesday announcement that his regime will be sending 31 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainians.
“Today, I’m announcing that the United States will be sending 31 Abram tanks to Ukraine, the equivalent of one Ukrainian battalion,” Biden said while flanked by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. “Secretary Austin has recommended this step because it will enhance the Ukraine’s capacity to defend its territory and achieve its strategic objectives.”

For context, Abrams tanks — of which the U.S. reportedly owns 4,400 of the 10,000 in operation worldwide — cost around $9 million to build. So, if we do the quick math, 31 tanks at an estimated $9 million per tank would cost roughly $279 million total.
This is on top of the over $100 billion dollars in money and equipment that the U.S. has given the embattled nation of Ukraine.
