President Biden’s first-ever National Climate Advisor, Gina McCarthy, offered bad news for free speech advocates on Thursday. In an interview with Axios reporter Alexi McCammond, McCarthy called on Big Tech to censor those who disagree with the administration’s outlook on climate change.

“[F]rankly, the tech companies have to stop allowing specific individuals over and over again to spread disinformation,” she said, “That’s what the fossil fuel companies pay for.”

She further argued against what she described as a shift in “disinformation” from outright denial of climate change to doubts about the cost or effectiveness of clean “solutions.” If we agree with McCarthy’s proposed definition of disinformation, people who believe that plans for a switch to wind or solar energy are merely too expensive might find themselves without a voice.

Like most leftist attempts at public relations, McCarthy’s sinister ideas were disguised with a snappy name written by a media ally - this time, “The Infodemic Age.” The washed-up Obama cabinet member chuckled as she complained that supposed ‘disinformation’ “continues to make [her] job difficult.”

McCammond continued to lob ‘tough questions’ at McCarthy, including asking, “Isn’t misinformation and disinfo around climate a threat to public health itself?”

To no one’s shock, McCarthy answered in the affirmative.

Such rhetoric seems specifically intended to draw equivalencies between government actions taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and those being prepared for climate change.

McCarthy, seemingly already workshopping an excuse for the potential power grab, has unwittingly revealed that the government has developed a taste for overreach. The narrative of “public health” has merely provided the regime and their media allies with a convenient pretext - one they’re not willing to give up.

Unsurprisingly to those who have paid attention, censorship for disagreeing with the tyranny of government “experts” is not something we can expect to fade along with the pandemic.
