Who knew that going plant-based could lead to cannibalism?

Turns out that going “beyond meat” doesn't mean foregoing human flesh, as the chief operating officer of the plant-based food company “Beyond Meat” was arrested over the weekend and booked on battery and terroristic threatening in Washington County, Arkansas after he reportedly bit a chunk out of a dude’s nose after a college football game.

According to reports, the story goes something like this: on Saturday night, Doug Ramsey allegedly punched through the back window of a Subaru after it briefly touched the front end of his own vehicle in a parking garage outside the Arkansas Razorbacks stadium. When the driver got out of the car, Ramsey started punching him in the face and threatening to kill him before biting him in the nose, ripping off some skin in the process.

Yuck.

Ramsey joined the Beyond Meat team in December of last year after having spent 30 years at Tyson Foods. The company peddles all kinds of allegedly eco-friendly meat substitutes including jersey, nuggets, burgers and sausage - all sans actual animals.

CNBC notes the vegetarian company has been clocking less-than-stellar performances this year with a stock drop of 73%, suggesting Americans aren’t quite ready to give up their ribeyes and quarter-pounders in favor of processed plant patties.

And offering a possible reason as to why Ramsey was so testy about a little fender-boop.

Now, far be it from me to tell someone else how to handle their problems, especially after a sporting event. But my suggestion? Next time you want to go “Beyond Plants,” Doug, just get a Whopper.
