Socialist senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has released a list of celebrities who have recently endorsed his campaign.
Most of them are b-listers whose names I didn't recognize, but there are a few notable, liberal celebrities who signed a pledge endorsing Bernie's "vision that pushes for a progressive economic agenda."
Some of the better-known celebrities who signed the pledge, featured on Sander's website, include:
Jackson Browne, Belinda Carlisle, Margaret Cho, Danny DeVito, Will Farrell, Patton Oswalt, John C. Reilly, Mark Ruffallo, Sarah Silverman, Susan Sarandon and Inventor Steve Wozniak.
Other than these household names--many of whom made their living as comedians or folk singers in the 1970s-- there are very few universally-recognizable names on the list.
Celebrity endorsements rarely make a big difference, particularly in primaries, but it's not surprising that Sanders' socialist message resonants with the artistic community.
