Former Democratic presidential candidate and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was met with anger from his own delegates during a press conference in Philadelphia on Monday for asking that they support Hillary Clinton in November.

“We have got to defeat Donald Trump, and we have got to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine,” said Sanders, followed by loud boos from his supporters.

“This is a real world that we live in,” he said, trying to quell the chaos.

Sanders went on to criticize Donald Trump in an effort to refocus attention on his primary message: defeating the Republican presidential nominee.

The press conference took place just hours before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sen. Sanders will address the convention Monday night.
