At a commencement address at Yeshiva University, Democrat Sen. John Fetterman, dramatically took off his Harvard hood to protest Harvard’s tolerance of antisemitic behavior on campus these last several months.

"Personally, I do not fundamentally believe that it is right for me to wear this today," declared the Pennsylvania senator and Harvard graduate, who has been outspoken in his support of Israel since the October 7 attacks by Hamas terrorists that left more than 1,200 Israelis dead.

Fetterman, ashamed of his alma mater’s treatment of Jewish students, made this symbolic gesture when bestowed the “Hero of Israel” award. He not only condemned Hamas, but repeatedly referenced the countless attacks on Jews over the last several months in his speech, saying, "I have been profoundly disappointed [by] Harvard's inability to stand up for the Jewish community after October 7."

"The Jewish community everywhere deserves our support. And I promise you will always have mine,' he concluded his speech.

Fetterman’s speech was met with thunderous applause.

Yeshiva University President Rabbi Ari Berman praised Fetterman for his stance, saying, “Standing for Israel is a source of great strength for our community and it’s our privilege to honor him.”
