The Denver City council recently spoke about the fact that there has been a direct correlation between the mass immigration into the city and spiking crime rates.

During a July 10 Safety, Housing, Education & Homelessness Committee meeting, Sarah Plastino, the director of the "newcomer" program for the City and County of Denver, discussed three migrant-related incidents expected to cost the city around $17 million, more than one-fifth of the $90 million the city has set aside to deal with migrant issues. This substantial bill is among the many concerns raised about illegal migrants..

“We have a hotspot in District 5, and we know that part of that hotspot is related to residents who have been housed in that apartment complex during our migrant crisis,” said Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer of District 5, continuing, “a vast, vast majority of people who are entering our programs are fantastic humans who want a better life, not all of them.”

Other reports have also revealed how detrimental the financial toll on the city is.

As reported by the Colorado Sun, “Denver has spent about $60 million since migrants began arriving in December 2022, but that’s only part of it. A report from the Common Sense Institute, a conservative leaning think tank in Greenwood Village, tallies the bill at closer to $100 million, when adding in the cost to schools and the health care system.”

In a feeble attempt to address the situation, Plastino mentioned that a “code of conduct is signed [by migrants] upon entering these programs, promising not to engage in criminal behavior,” according to the New York Post

Essentially, an enormous amount of taxpayer dollars is being used to support these illegal migrants, with the only requirement being a promise not to commit crimes — aside from the initial act of entering the United States illegally, of course.
