A movement seems to have begun, which includes the unlikely pairing of Barstool Sports Founder "El Presidente" Dave Portnoy and the billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Musk.

The somewhat satirical call for the duo to run for office together came about after Portnoy posted a video rant to Twitter last Wednesday with a caption asking the question, "When Did Flattening The Curve Turn Into Finding The Cure?" The post went mega viral, garnering over eight million views on Twitter.

Musk entered the equation when he replied to Portnoy's video post by pleading with him to run for office.

Being the entrepreneur that he is known to be, Portnoy made another Twitter post. This time he posted a picture of Elon Musk wearing a Barstool hat along with a t-shirt that reads "Portnoy/Musk 2024." Portnoy claimed on Saturday that should one billion people buy the shirt, he'll run for office.

Of course, getting one billion people to actually buy the shirt is a very long shot. But regardless of how many of these particular shirts Barstool sells, Musk could never be vice president as he was born in South Africa to parents of which neither was born in the U.S. The citizenship requirements to be vice president are the same as those to become president.

The 12th Amendment states that "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

In any case, this shouldn't be taken too seriously as of now. It's just the internet having a little bit of fun for once.

Here's the original video from Portnoy that began it all:
