A sculptor temporarily placed a statue of a dog urinating next to Wall Street's “Fearless Girl” statue as a protest against the statue’s marketing gimmick and alleged degradation of feminism.

The New York Post reports sculptor Alex Gardega put his sculpture of a dog urinating next to the “Fearless Girl” statue, which is positioned across from Wall Street's famous “Charging Bull.”

The sculpture, named “Pissing Pug,” is placed directly next to the statue of the “Fearless Girl” as to appear like it is urinating on her on leg.

Gardega told the New York Post the original “Fearless Girl” is “corporate nonsense.”

“It has nothing to do with feminism, and it is disrespect to the artist that made the bull,” he continued. “That bull had integrity.”

He also told Moneyish, “I’m pro-feminism, but this isn’t a statue made by an artist standing up to Wall Street. It's by a corporation.”

“If they can invade the bull’s sacred space, I can invade its sacred space,” he added.

The “Fearless Girl” was erected on International Women’s Day by State Street Global Advisors, a financial firm that manages approximately $2.5 trillion in assets. On their website discussing their statue, State Street Global Advisors praises their firm’s own commitment to diversity.

According to Bloomberg, the statue has given the firm $7.4 million worth of media exposure.

The reaction to the “Pissing Pug,” which was intentionally bad artwork, was mostly negative.

The New York Post reports one woman kicked the sculpture and said, “That’s an a–hole move. You call this art?” Gardega told Moneyish he saw two people kicking the dog, while one person tried to take it away.

After being up for almost three hours, Gardega took his statue down.

Gardega told Moneyish he took down the dog to “save its life.”

Gardega isn’t the only critic of the “Fearless Girl.” Arturo Di Modica, the sculptor of the “Charging Bull,” has called it an “advertising trick.”
