In a rare turn for the good guys, armed employees at a Cleveland Taco Bell shot and killed a suspect during a robbery attempt this week.
The would-be-thief has been identified as De'Carlo Jackson, 24, according to Cleveland.com. The two employees, ages 19 and 23, shot Jackson six times at around 2:45 a.m. inside their Taco Bell located on West 117th Street in the city's Edgewater neighborhood.
When police arrived on scene, they found Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived, but the suspect died later at MetroHealth Medical Center, according to Fox8.
As of yet, the two employees have not been publicly identified. Police say there were no customers on the premises when the shooting occurred, but added the investigation is still pending. Authorities did say that Jackson was not alone, but the second suspect escaped.
A Taco Bell spokeswoman said the restaurant is offering counseling to any of the employees at the location of the shooting. In addition, the company released a statement saying, "Taco Bell and Sigma Bell, LLC., the franchise owner of this Cleveland, Ohio location, are shocked this happened at the restaurant."
"Our franchisee is fully cooperating with the Cleveland Police Department in their investigation," Taco Bell company officials added.
