Armed Citizen Stops Stabbing Suspect

The benefits of a good citizen being able to carry a gun shouldn’t be understated.

On Friday, at the Seattle Center in Seattle, Wa., an armed bystander stopped a man -- who allegedly fatally stabbed the mother of his 4-year-old child -- from fleeing the scene and hurting others.

Scott Brown, a concealed carry permit holder, works in the food-court area of the Seattle Center and happened to be at work on his day off to meet a friend. It was during this time that he heard a loud commotion that someone had been hurt.

“Everyone was screaming somebody got stabbed,” Brown told KCPQ. "I saw a girl on the ground laying on someone's lap, people rushing over. My focus was going outside," he continued. "You could see the knife in his right hand, so I ran after him.”

Brown had his handgun with him as he chased down the suspect, David Lee Morris, to stop him from leaving the area.

A witness caught this scene on his cell phone and in the video you can see Brown pointing the gun at Morris who kept walking toward him. Brown knew he had to keep his attention on himself and not allow the suspect to focus on others.

“Once he saw that I had a gun, he kept trying to convince me to shoot him.” Brown said the suspect told him to make sure not to miss, “to make the shot count” because “he killed the only person he ever loved.”

Morris was arrested in connection to the stabbing of the mother of his child, Gabrielle Garcia.

According to The Blaze, “Court documents indicated the couple were having problems and that Garcia had filed a protection order against him [Morris], according to reports. In court documents, he allegedly admits to killing Garcia.”

Brown was successful in keeping Morris from doing any further damage, he was also helped by another bystander who sprayed pepper spray in the face of the suspect. Police later arrived to the scene and arrested Morris.

Unfortunately, Garcia later died from her wounds, according to officials at Harborview Medical Center.
