On Saturday, June 20, AP photos surfaced depicting Republican Texas senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruz (R) at the "Celebrate the 2nd Amendment Event."

Coincidentally, the photos were taken by the Associated Press at just the right angle and just the right time to make it look like Cruz has a gun to his head.

Could this just be a coincidence on AP's part? Or did the photographer mean to stir the pot?

Charlie Neibergall took several photos at the event. AP could have selected a different image, perhaps one of these:

I can see why those photos could be considered dull or boring next to the photo AP ultimately selected. Maybe, they were not sensational enough for AP's taste. But, then again, we will never know.

Now, let's look back over the years at some other AP photos - of President Obama:

For years, we have seen Associated Press photos of Barack Obama with a circular figure behind his head, enough to give the illusion of the President as an angelic figure.

Yes, AP has given President Obama a “halo” for years

He looks so angelic...

How about some more?

I know that last one was a bit of a stretch.

For a beloved president, a halo is given - but for a "not so liked" presidential candidate, a gun is aimed at his head. Why is that?

What if the Sen. Cruz gun photo was actually of President Obama, would there be more of an outrage?

You be the judge.
