The Washington Post published an article this week which has received virtually no attention from the mainstream media, and there’s a clear reason why that is: It would expose the true intentions of their recent darling, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Saikat Chakrabarti, AOC’s chief of staff, seemingly admitted in a WaPo article published Wednesday that the freshman representative’s notorious Green New Deal, which received a grand total of zero votes in the Senate, was never really about the environment.
“The interesting thing about the Green New Deal,” Chakrabarti reportedly said in a conversation with Washington state Governor and fellow 2020 hopeful Jay Inslee (D), “is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.”
"Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti went on. “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”
These comments heavily clash with AOC’s, who, despite being an avid "Democratic" Socialist, centered her messaging for the Green New Deal on the climate aspect, saying at one point:
As towns and cities go underwater, as wildfires ravage our communities, we're going to pay. And we have to decide whether we're going to pay to react or pay to be proactive. I can tell you now, the cost of pursuing a Green New Deal will be far less than the cost of not passing it.
If Chakrabarti’s comments are to be believed, one must wonder if Ocasio-Cortez was merely using climate change as an excuse to push her own economic agenda, attempting to make her policy's intentions seem more altruistic than they actually were.
One thing is for certain, however. The farting cows will yet live another day.
