House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) finally addressed Biden's border crisis in a video on her Instagram account on Tuesday, in which she declared that anyone who referred to the enormous arrivals of migrants on the southwest border as a “surge” is using a white supremacist narrative because the term invokes “a militaristic frame.”
”This is not a surge,” she said. “These are children, and they are not insurgents, and we are not being invaded.”
She further stated the crisis on the border was “not a border crisis. It’s an imperialism crisis. It’s a climate crisis. It’s a trade crisis. And also, it’s a carceral crisis.”
Many people on Twitter are already bashing Ocasio-Cortez for her definition of the word "surge," as evidenced by the tweets below.

Not one mention of the fact that the facilities are 300% over capacity during a pandemic, NO ONE used the word “surge” so I don’t know where she got that from. This time last year she was at the southern border doing a photo shoot in a $1200 pantsuit fake crying. What changed?— Michael A. 🐺 (@WolffintheWild) March 31, 2021
Oh no! So this “surge” and “insurgent” word play story about AOC is actually true? When I first saw it I thought it was a @TheBabylonBee story. 🤦🏻♂️— Natebibi (@NateDog_LA) March 31, 2021
GOP: Man, Biden really created a crisis at the border, huh?— Pete Kaliner (@PeteKaliner) March 31, 2021
Dems: Not a crisis! It's a... situation. Not a crisis. Don't call it a crisis. It's more of a... uhhh... surge. Yes, it's a surge.
AOC: DON'T CALL IT A SURGE!! THAT'S WHITE SUPREMACY!!
We know @AOC every move is either racism or white supremacy.Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is condemning the use of the term "surge" when discussing the ongoing border crisis at the southern border. God help our country.— @sailor02011957 (@sailor02011957) March 31, 2021
The New York congresswoman was one of the most vocal critics of the Trump administration's handling of illegal aliens and unaccompanied minors - including placing them in the same, now overcrowded facilities Biden is currently using. AOC was quick to support leftists' labeling of these facilities as "concentration camps," suggesting Trump was a Nazi for using the fenced-in facilities to house children.
The congresswoman has been conspicuously quiet about the Biden administration's handling of the crisis, now calling it a "surge."
