Thousands of demonstrators, chanting slogans such as “No Trump, no wall, no USA at all,” gathered in Berkeley, Calif. Sunday. After organizers scheduled, but then canceled an anti-Marxist rally.

The gathering got violent as Antifa, wearing black and covering their faces, chased and beat people near Civic Center Park.

The San Francisco Examiner reports, Police made 14 arrests as of 4 p.m. “for a number of violations” after several fights broke out.

Fox News reports, a group of more than 100 hooded individuals, with shields emblazoned with the words “no hate” and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through police lines, avoiding security checks by officers to take away possible weapons.

Berkeley police chief Andrew Greenwood defended how police handled the protest, saying they made a strategic decision to let the anarchists enter to avoid more violence.
