CNN Falsely Accuses Anti-Google Protests Of Being 'White Nationalists'

The nine planned marches against Google’s firing of James Damore have been canceled after CNN and other media outlets asserted the organizers were actually “white nationalists.”

In a tweet on Tuesday, CNN wrote that “white nationalists” were planning nine separate rallies across the United States:

The actual text of the CNN story, however, claims the rallies organized by alleged “white nationalists” are actually the nine marches planned against Google to protest the firing of Damore, who criticized “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber.”

According to Jack Posobiec, the main organizer for the anti-Google marches, CNN’s original headline also accused the event of being organized by “white nationalists”:

In their updated text of the story, CNN categorized the protest as “far right” and mentioned Damore has condemned the “alt-right.”

CNN’s implication is that protesting the firing of Damore for mentioning biological differences between women is somehow a “white nationalist," "far right," and "alt-right" cause. Indeed, media outlets around the world decried those standing against Damore’s firing as “alt-right.”

The official website for the March on Google, which was online before CNN’s story, claims the event explicitly “disavows violence, hatred, and bigotry and all groups that espouse it such as White Nationalists, KKK, Antifa, and NeoNazis.” It also states the event is not an “alt-right” event.

In an update on the March on Google website on Wednesday, Posobiec claimed the marches would be postponed because of “credible Alt Left terrorist threats for the safety of our citizen participants.” In his post, Posobiec cites the CNN article by name for conflating the march with one that was “being organized by Nazi sympathizers.”

Posobiec says the marches will be held “in a few weeks’ time,” adding, “We look forward to the day when the human right of peaceful Free Speech is once again able to be practiced in America.”
