Afghan Man Names His Son After Donald Trump: 'He's a Really Good Person'

I’m all for supporting a good politician, if such an animal can be found. But naming your kid after a president shows some serious devotion.

Especially when it’s not even the president of your own country.

But that’s exactly what one Afghan man decided to do when he named his newborn son “Donald Trump,” saying he admires the U.S. president so much that his kid now gets to carry the name for the rest of his life.

"He's very capable, he's serious, and he's a good politician and a good writer,” Sayed Assadullah told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. "Because he's a really good person, and he wrote a lot of impressive books, and because he was a successful businessman, we decided to name our son Donald Trump."

Assadullah said he also decided to name his son after the 45th U.S. president because of the boy's light hair.

“When my son was born, his hair was completely blonde, and it matched Trump’s hair. So when I saw his hair, I thought, ‘I will name him Trump," he explained.

And lest you assume the man is just some backwards yokel from the sticks of Afghanistan, the New York Times reports Assadullah was born to a poor farming family but earned a college degree, read all of Trump’s books, and watches the president on TV regularly. He said he hopes his son’s name will help give him a leg-up for success.

His family, however, is apparently less-than-pleased with his choice of moniker. After his own father accused him of naming his son after an “infidel,” Assadullah says he packed up his family and headed out of town.

"My father is an angry man. He told me that he could not tolerate the fact that I call my son Donald Trump,” Assadullah said. “So I left and moved my family to Kabul."

Hey, man. Whatever floats your boat.
