The tobacco industry is about to take another big hit, and this time from the city of Chicago.

The Chicago City Council voted on Tuesday to raise the city’s smoking age from 18 to 21. Leave it to liberal Chicago to ban something.

According to WGN, the higher-ups also have outlawed discounts and have placed a $6 million tax on tobacco products. Additionally, they've decided to ban chew (smokeless tobacco) from all sporting events, both professional and amateur. This includes baseball stadiums, where fans and players alike are knowing for "dipping."

Essentially what Chicago has done is ban smokeless tobacco in open air environments. By the way, the ban includes prohibiting players on the field from using smokeless tobacco.

So abortion is allowed because women don't want the government telling them what to do with their own bodies, but smokeless tobacco is not allowed because the government is trying to save lives by telling you what to do with your body.

Riiiiiight…

Cleveland, New York, Boston, Kansas City and Evanston have similar laws in place to ban smokeless tobacco and raise the smoking age.

Here are the cities with Major League Baseball teams that must comply with smokeless tobacco bans: Los Angeles (Dodgers), San Francisco (Giants), Boston (Red Sox) and Chicago (Cubs & White Sox). New York City (Yankees & Mets) and Toronto (Blue Jays) have similiar legislation currently pending.

Anyone see a commonality in the U.S. cities on that list?

Los Angeles has been controlled by Democrats since 1973 (with one four-year exception from 2001-2005). San Francisco has been controlled by Democrats since 1968. Boston has been controlled by Democrats since 1930. Chicago has been controlled by Democrats since 1931.

You get the idea. Liberals like banning things, unless it's something they like. But doesn’t that contradict the definition of term "liberal"?
