Remember all those times New York City hailed itself a sanctuary city for illegal aliens? Mayor Eric Adams wants you to know that never meant the city, you know, pay for them.

“New Yorkers are angry. I am angry,” Adams ranted during a preser Friday condemning Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for bussing thousands of illegal aliens – a mere fraction of those coming across the border each day – into the Big Apple to take advantage of the blue city’s pro-open borders position.

“We have not asked for this. There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers," he went on. “This responsibility was simply handed to us without warning as busses began showing up.”

Of course, Adams and his fellow left-wing NYC officials were singing a different tune when it was border towns who were being left to handle the overwhelming influx of thousands of migrants every single day, a flood that consistently overwhelms town resources, costs local taxpayers millions, and leaves homeowners and shopkeepers to foot the bill for damage to their property. To complain about any of that, you’ll recall, was “inhumane,” and anyone who had something to say about it was Hitler.

Just don’t ask bleeding heart, pro-migrant, big government-loving New Yorkers to bear the same weight.
