Former professional football player and actor Terry Crews came under fire yesterday after posting a tweet that sparked controversy about the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement.

“If you are a child of God, you are my brother and sister. I have family of every race, creed and ideology. We must ensure that #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter,” Crews said in his tweet.

Many responded, claiming that Crews misinterpreted or misunderstood the mission of the Black Lives Matter group.

One person “admired his dedication to centering whiteness”.

Another suggested that “white supremacy cuts across all races, creeds, and ideologies”.

This isn’t Crews’ first time being criticized for voicing controversial opinions on Twitter. Earlier last month, Crews tweeted, “Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together.”

Crews later clarified that everything he said comes from a spirit of love and reconciliation for the Black community and that he hopes to see a better future for the Black community.

Crews has not yet responded to the backlash for his latest tweet.
