Acosta Self-Owns On Twitter, Claims He Saw No Illegal Aliens While Standing Next To...a Border Fence

CNN’s Jim Acosta just self-owned himself so hard on Twitter, it was almost too painfully hilarious to watch.

Almost.

Having been discharged from the burn unit after getting scorched by presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway in front of the White House Tuesday, Acosta headed down to McAllen, Texas, where he videoed himself standing next to a border wall and tweeted that he “[didn’t]see anything resembling a national emergency situation” like, say, a giant influx of migrants.

Acosta stood next to a physical barrier and complained that he didn’t see any illegal aliens trying to cross.

"Here are some of the steel slats the president has been talking about," Acosta notes in his video, tapping on the tall poles lining the border.

"But as we're walking along here, we're not seeing any kind of imminent danger," he went on. "There are no migrants trying to, uh, rush toward this fence...no sign of the 'national emergency' that the president has been talking about. As a matter of fact, it's pretty tranquil down here."

He also posted a video of a border fence topped with razor wire along with the caption, "All quiet on this stretch of the border ahead of Trump’s visit to McAllen TX area."

The irony of the statement was so thick and so hilarious, in fact, that Twitter couldn’t help but point it out. A lot.

Perhaps Acosta should think first before throwing down his own critique of his political opponents. Then again, thinking before speaking has never really been his strong suit.
