Chicago Blackhawks Sticking with Nickname, Iconic Logo Amid Pressure Following Cleveland Indians Name Drop

Whatever you do, don’t give in to the outrage mob. Let them be angry, as is their right. But it’s also your right to freely express your views. Don’t let the bullies win.

The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Chicago Blackhawks have once again faced pressure to change their nickname and their iconic logo after the soft, weak Cleveland Indians baseball team decided to cave and drop their nickname after 105 years. Needless to say, the Blackhawks are keeping the name, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

New Blackhawks CEO Danny Wirtz, whose father Rocky Wirtz is the owner of the franchise and supporter of President Donald Trump, gave a professional response to both Cleveland’s decision to drop their nickname and his organization’s continued work with the “native community.”

Here’s some of Wirtz’s comments:

Obviously respect the decision the Cleveland Indians made to go down that path, but we continue to deepen our commitment to upholding our namesake and our brand.

The work we’ve been doing over the last several months in expanding and deepening conversations and partnerships within the native community, we continue to feel really positive about the types of work we can do. The way in which we can be better stewards of the namesake and the history, and to use our platforms to be educators, not only for our fans, but for our internal teams and making sure that we provide that reverence and respect that we talk about.

That’s all Wirtz needed to say. That’s more of an explanation than the outrage mob deserves and more than they would ever give others concerning their words and actions.

Plus, why is that the "tolerant left" always wants to get rid of nicknames and logos that are meant to honor others? It's like they're trying to erase

It’s sad that professional sports organizations have essentially become giant corporate entities catering to advertisers and the outrage mob instead of the people who have been loyal to their brands for decades — the fans.

It’s funny how you never hear calls of racism or prejudice against the University of Notre Dame for it’s “Fightin’ Irish” nickname or its leprechaun mascot. I guess it just further proves the left’s policy that you can’t be racist against white people.
