So much for a downturn in the dozens of shooting victims in Chicago.

At least six people were killed and another 49 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. This is up from the previous weekend, which saw at least seven people murdered and another 39 wounded.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that, of the wounded, “a 14-year-old, two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds” were shooting victims this past weekend.

Here are the names and ages of those who lost their lives over the weekend:

Unidentified Male, 27

Unidentified Male, 30

Unidentified Male, 27

Unidentified Male, 42

Felipe De Jesus Duarte Trujillo, 26

Unidentified Male, 55

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 217 people have been murdered and another 1,238 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, which keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, doesn’t appear to be paying attention as they still haven’t updated their numbers in over a month. But, they reported that — as of July 7 — 2,021 people have been shot in Chicago this year. That number is 164 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.
