Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker announced this morning that he will be seeking the office of president in 2016. Here are five facts about his life you may not know about. 

1. Walker was the first governor of Wisconsin to face a recall election

In 2011, he was recalled for proposing eliminating most collective bargaining rights for state workers. He won the recall election, making him the first governor in American history to survive a recall.  (via) (via)

 

2. He did not graduate college

Walker attended Marquette University, but left to take a job the American Red Cross. (via)

 

3. Ronald Regan inspired Walker

Walker went to Washington D.C. for a leadership and government training event while he was in high school. While there, he met Ronald Reagan who Walker said became his role model and inspired him. (via)

 

4. Walker's father is a minister
