As the House of Representatives prepares for their August recess, the turmoil and power struggle within the chambers of the esteemed body only becomes that much more prevalent, with Thursday only showing the most recent display of such.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and 33 other Representatives of the House penned a letter to current Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, decrying the upcoming recess, arguing no one in the House should go anywhere until ICE is provided the resources it so desperately needs:

We are united in our belief that the House of Representatives should not adjourn for August recess before providing adequate funding to our men and women of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the frontlines dealing with the ongoing humanitarian crisis on our southern border…

ICE is using all the tools and resources at their disposal to house, process, and care for the hundreds of thousands of migrants crossing our southern border each month. They are overwhelmed. They’ve told Congress time after time they are overwhelmed, yet we have refused to supply them with the tools they need.

As the immigration debate continues to grow even more contentious, one must wonder if Nancy Pelosi will even give the letter a second glance, let alone delay the House’s planned adjournment. That being said, stranger things have happened in politics.
