Three people were shot and injured, two critically, at a Halloween party in Austin, Texas on Sunday, reports local newspaper Statesman.

The shooter was reportedly wearing a Santa costume and had known the victims at the party he was himself attending, police said.

Authorities apprehended the shooter after he went to a second location and “made contact” with other individuals.

There was no violence reported at the second location.

The shooter was arrested with minor injuries, but police couldn’t indicate how he sustained those injuries. Police only said that officers did not have to use force during the arrest.

A man and a woman were critically injured and a third suffered serious injuries, Austin-Travis County EMS said.

They were rushed to a local hospital in downtown Austin.

A fourth person was injured, though it is unclear whether it was from a gunshot as the victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

Austin Police detective Lee Knouse said police typically do not expect an uptick in violence around the holiday.

Criminal activity tends to increase around holidays like Halloween and New Year's Eve.

Last year, Halloween weekend marked the deadliest weekend for Chicago with 17 people fatally shot.
