If you watch activity on the floors of Congress you may be shocked by some of what you hear.

With a slip of the tongue, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) not only sought continued taxpayer funding for abortion provider Planned Parenthood, but also funding for the organization’s efforts in offering “STD tasting and treatment.”

“It’s not about abortion, it’s about something different,” DeFazio said on the House Floor Tuesday. “ It’s about breast exams, pap smears, physical exams, STD tasting and treatment…”

STD tasting and treatment? That certainly is “something different.” Thanks anyway, but I’ll take a pass on federally funding Planned Parenthood.

On Wednesday, Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) took to the floor of the House and asked an unusual question:

“Let me ask the American people, who do you think the Republican Party is representing? You or corporate America?”

Hastings then followed the question with, “Mr. Speaker, we are not even a full two-months into the Republican-led government. And in addition to the unconstitutional Muslim bans – and notice I said ‘s’ because the old one is nothing but the new one.”

Then Hastings went into what he feels is GOP “denial of clear Russian influence” on the presidential election.

First off, I’m positive the “Executive Order Protecting The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States,” doesn’t even contain the word “Muslim”, so it would be pretty ineffective at banning them.

Second, even it was a “Muslim ban” as Hastings claims, how does that connect to the idea the GOP is representing corporate America?

Some moments to ponder from the House of Representatives.
