Barack Obama's Speech Against Illinois's Born Alive Infants Protection Act

Loading media...

This is an audio clip of President Barack Obama's controversial speech given on April 4th 2002 outlining his opposition to the Illinois version of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It is only a small snippet of his speech but it provides an idea of Obama's argument.

In this excerpt Obama is arguing that requiring another physician be called in the case that a child survives an abortion and is born alive would "burden" the abortionist performing the procedure and the woman getting the abortion.

The direct section of the speech that this clip is from can be found at Jill Stanek's blog on the subject.

The full transcript of Obama's floor speech can be found here between pages 31-34.
