REV. AL SHARPTON (12 August 2013): As you said we’re redlined out of bank loans and Hollywood will not invest in positive things and people that are conscious. They want us to be into these you know housewives of insanity rather than deal with some stuff that’s real.

SPIKE LEE: And here’s another thing Al and I don’t Rev excuse me excuse me Rev. and I don’t I know you got do a show though I just want to say this.  I’m not blasting Hollywood, but Spielberg Steven Spielberg and George Lucas himself, both of them said and these are guys that invented the blockbuster with Spielberg’s Jaws and Lucas’ Star Wars.

REV. AL SHARPTON: Right

SPIKE LEE: They said the current Hollywood business plan of this tent pole madness is going to make the industry collapse on itself. What we’re talking about is these big budgeted 3D super effects people flying through the air people transforming the world on the brick of extinction, these films they make these films that could open on the same day around the world and make a trillion dollars. Those, there’s been too many flops this summer to prove that correctly and so, I’m a filmmaker I don’t make those kind of films so that is why I have to go to Kick Start cause stuff I do, there not making. And I Rev. I challenge I challenge, I don’t think they’d make Malcolm X today.

REV AL SHARPTON: Yeah yeah.

SPIKE LEE Unless we put tights and cape on Denzel, you know he wasn’t doing that.
