MRCTV's Joe Schoffstall caught up with actress Rosario Dawson yesterday at the Washington rally against the Keystone XL pipeline. Dawson insisted President Obama "could and should do more" for green energy, and the old "brown" kind somehow doesn't create jobs.

"This pipeline is not for the benefit of the American people," she said. "This pipeline is so that we can start selling to China and other places. Which they would say was about creating some jobs and it’s about bringing in money, but most of that money isn’t trickling down to anybody." She does favor hemp oil.

She added: "What is trickling down to us is leakages, spills, bad health, um, contaminated water, contaminated air, radioactive materials, property values dropping, our health. That’s what’s being trickled down to us, and we have to say no to that."

Dawson urged Obama to reject the pipeline, and pushed "hemp oil" as the future: "I think it would be really a not-smart thing to do...We’ve already seen spills that are catastrophic, and there’s no way that we know how to clean this up...We don’t see these problems when there’s a hemp oil spill, you know, we don’t suddenly hear about all these birds and animals, and like, radioactivity and all these things happening. It’s not a problem, so that’s the energy that we need to be pushing forwards."
