Rep. Marsha Blackburn tells
MRCTV that she’s trying to find out why major media aren’t covering the murder
trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell.
“I had 71 of my colleagues join me on the letter to
the executives of ABC, NBC, CBS asking why they have not been covering this
story,” Rep. Blackburn told MRCTV.
The only response she
received was “a phone call from the president of CBS,” Rep. Blackburn said.
The congresswoman voiced
concerned that the media has focused on more trivial human interest stories,
instead of this one of “life and death.”
“This is a public safety
issue.” “We want to know why are they covering the snow cone kings, why are
they covering these other stories that certainly are human interest stories – but,
they are not public safety stories they are not life and death issues.”
“We’re talking about people
being murdered. I think this will be one of the most tragic murder stories of
our time.”
“One is forced to say, my
goodness, is this because we’re talking about poor women in minority
neighborhoods or is it because the media is trying to protect the abortion
business?”
Asked which she thinks is the
case, Rep. Blackburn replied:
“I’m waiting to hear from the
networks as to what their decision was.”
There are “a lot of
unanswered questions about” what Department of Health did about complaints
received about Gosnell’s clinic, she said.
