Speaking at a White House press conference on Aug. 18, President Obama spoke of civil disorder in Ferguson, Mo., and said that, " ... Giving into that anger by looting or carrying guns and even attacking police only to serves to raise tensions and stir chaos. It undermines rather than advancing justice."

Shortly thereafter, TheCaucus blog at the New York Times edited Obama's statement to make it grammatically correct and less clumsy, with this tweet -- "Giving into that anger by looting, carrying guns or attacking police...undermines rather than advances justice."
