[See NewsBusters for more.] Unlike Republicans, Democrats don’t “hate.” That incredible claim came from MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Wednesday night came as the Hardball host fawned over the Democratic National Convention. Matthews sneered, “Republicans hate Hillary Clinton. I don't think there's a better word for chemistry-like dislike for her. It's pure. They hate her.” The MSNBC host contrasted, “I don't think Democrats hate Donald Trump. It's not like that. It's something like he appalls them.” Struggling to articulate his claim, Matthews continued, “I'm going to find that word, but it's not hatred, these people are happy when somebody puts down Trump.”
