Faulty Fact-Checker: Bashir Wrongly Says More on Food Stamps Under Bush than Obama

On MSNBC's The Ed Show on January 23, MSNBC host Martin Bashir blustered that Newt Gingrich "lies" when he talks about the record number of people on food stamps under President Obama: "We know today that more people were collecting food stamps under George W. Bush than are under President Obama."
But Bashir was wrong: under Bush, the highest number of food stamp recipients was 31.98 million; under Obama, that number soared to more than 46 million as of the end of 2011.
