Atheists have often used the argument that people believe in God for psychological reasons... it makes them feel more secure etc. Professor Paul C. Vitz of NYU sets forth a powerful counter-argument showing that the most famous atheists had dysfunctional or problematic relationships with their fathers causing them to reject them and consequently God.
