TAVIS SMILEY (20 Jan 2013): Have the Democrats abandoned poor people? Have they abandoned the issue of poverty the way that they use to, have the Democrats abandoned the poor?
CORNEL WEST: well I want to have my say but my dear sister you want to defend the cause I’m gonna come down hard.
REP MARCIA FUDGE (D-OH): No no no.

REP MARCIA FUDGE: Thank you so much thank you so much let me say two things. First off I’m not owned by anybody.
CORNEL WEST: There you go there you go.
REP MARCIA FUDGE: No corporations or anybody else.
CORNEL WEST: That’s right.
REP MARCIA FUDGE: Secondly let me just say that Democrats have in a lot of ways have written off poverty. I don’t disagree with that. It’s no different than guns, if they can’t figure out what to do about it than they don’t do anything about it.
