Census Bureau Didn't Think This All the Way Through

The U.S. Census Bureau explains race as a matter of self-identification. What is the parent of a minor child to do? Ask the child himself how he self-identifies? And sensible as it is for the parents to decide the child's race, it defeats the bureau's concept of race as a matter of self-identification. They simply did not think this all the way through regarding self-identification.
