After observing during the Republican National Convention that GOP voters were “better about laughing at themselves,” Saturday Night Live Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che appeared again on NBC’s Today on Wednesday to confirm that impression. Following their man-on-the-street comedy skit with attendees of the Democratic National Convention, co-host Matt Lauer asked: “We asked you last week, we'll ask you again. Who’s funnier, Republicans or Democrats?”
Both comedians stood by their original statement. Jost replied: “I think so far, Republicans.” Che agreed: “Yeah, me too.” Che went on to explain: “Republicans are funny just because they’re honest, they just let it all hang out, you know? Democrats, you kind of gotta dig a little bit more.”
