House Speaker John Boehner emerged from his meeting with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner saying that there had not been any "substantive progress" in avoiding the fiscal cliff. He stated there had been no serious discussion of spending cuts and said that the White House had no real plan to cut spending. He accused the White House of trying to take a victory lap rather than avoiding the fiscal cliff and stated the White House wasn't serious about cutting spending to avoid the cliff. He also stated that increasing taxes or ending deductions would not be on the table without spending cuts.
